Two BC United MLAs announce re-election, one to retire
BC United Kootenay East MLA Tom Shypitka and Columbia River—Revelstoke MLA Doug Clovechok have announced they will seek re-election, while Kelowna West MLA Ben Stewart has announced he will retire from politics.
Shypitka will run in the renamed riding of Kootenay—Rockies.
Stewart founded Quails’ Gate Winery and has served as chair of VQA Canada. He was first elected in 2009 but resigned his seat in 2013 to allow former premier Christy Clark to win it in a byelection after she lost her Vancouver—Point Grey riding to David Eby. Stewart won the riding back in a 2018 byelection following Clark’s resignation.
